Gippsland and Western Port form a uniquely spectacular part of Victoria. The Gippsland coast is a unique mix of spectacular wilderness areas, agricultural landscapes and vibrant coastal communities. Gippsland’s plant and animal species have evolved in response to these conditions; consequently many are only found in this region.
The Lang Lang Foreshore Reserve encompasses the beach at ‘Lang Lang’, a name believed derived from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘a group of trees’, and also the fishing hamlet of ‘Jam Jerrup’ , meaning ‘separated friends’.
